Embracing the summer slowdown

Embracing Summer SlowdownBeing your own boss means it's okay to take time off and enjoy life. That's why we work so hard the rest of the time right? The temptation to let things slide in the summer is strong. You may also see a slowdown in sales or engagement from even your best clients.

Less on our schedule may give you extra time for doing other things, but it may also mean less income just when we need it most.

Here are a few ways to be proactive and embrace your summer slowdown. It’s not to late to reap the results of your hard work and have a little fun!

Be realistic
You know you’re going to want to go to the pool with the kids or enjoy a few lazy days reading a book or hitting the flea markets.  Own it. Acknowledge it and put it on your calendar. Then you’re free to have fun when it is fun-making time and you won’t feel guilty when it’s time to work.

Ask for help
This is a big one for many of us. Feeling like you can’t do it all? No worries because none of us can! Help can be having one of the kids take over laundry one day while you attend to business or hire someone to tackle the next few blog posts. Knowing a few things can be done by someone else will free up your energy to do what only you CAN do.

Keep Marketing
Yes, things may slow down but there are still people looking for your products and services. In fact, right this minute someone is online hunting for you! Keep your marketing machine moving. In fact, you may see better than normal results since others may be taking a vacation snooze on their own sales efforts!

Stick to your plan
By all means enjoy the special time that only comes with summer. But stick to your plan. Don’t have one? That’s okay – today is the perfect day to start one. Figure out your income goals and plan your next steps. Then plug it into the calendar with your fun vacation-y plans too. You’ll be able to enjoy your time off guilt-free and still see results.

Need help?
It helps to have a second set of eyes on a project or idea. You are welcome to schedule a 30 minute Sounding Board Session to hash out whatever is on your plate.

In the first part of our call, you'll share what you are working on or need to be working on. On the second part of the call, I'll provide you with some best practices for your situation and suggest some ideas for moving forward. I'll also send you you a link to the recording of our call for your reference.

So great to hear from you. You are always in my heart. This is such a great article! Thank you. I have little ones and I want to sleep under a tree while they play in the pool. I want to go to the park and run around. So what I did to make my business fun, still build my list, create content for my tribe and live life I did the 100 days of summer enlightenment challenge. It has been great!!!!! I would encourage anyone to find a fun challenge to do with their tribe to have even more fun in business this summer.
