What the heck is a Gravatar and how do I get one?

Ever wonder how people get their picture to show up when they post on someone's blog? They're using Gravatar…a globally recognized avatar.

Why would I want one?
Instead of being an anonymous, faceless blogger or commenter, people will be able to see that you're a real person and begin to recognize you. With the amount of spam out there, this will let folks see you as a legit contributor. Besides, it's cool to have your pic pop up…

How much are they and how do I get one?
You can get one free at http://en.gravatar.com.

You signup, upload your pic once, upload a line or 2 about who you are & what you do, a few links to your site, social media etc. After that, anytime you use your email address to sign in & leave your comments, your pic will automatically appear! A cool feature is that when people hover over your pic, people will get an at a glance picture of who you are & where you keep your media online. If they click through, they'll find your universal profile with any info you want to share.
