Why an Amazing Team is Worth the Investment
By now, you’re well aware that you can’t grow or sustain a profitable, successful business all by yourself. Maybe you’ve already hired a team or worked with contractors like Virtual Assistants, graphic designers, and web designers. Maybe they worked out long term or maybe they didn’t.
Or maybe you’re limping along hiring people on Fiverr or still scrambling to do everything yourself.
I can’t tell you how frustrating it is to see business owners hiring the contractors with the lowest rates they can find just to save a few bucks. I’m all about being frugal but the phrase “penny wise, pound foolish” has been around so long for a reason. You might think you’re saving money by hiring the cheapest contractors, but that’s not always the case.
Truth time: Investing in a skilled team that can stick with you for the long haul is one of the best things you can do for your business! Click To Tweet
Here’s why you should be looking for a consistent, long-term business team
They know you and help you do your best work.
After you’ve worked together for some time, your team will start to understand how you operate. They'll call you out and even coach you when you need it. They get your brain, your voice, and your mission. They know your strengths and weaknesses, so they know where to provide support.
My team knows I tend to go off on tangents and fall down rabbit holes. They know when to let me talk out my ideas and when to pull me back to the topic at hand. Also, they offer solutions when I get stuck, and let me tell you, it’s hard to put a price tag on that.
They look out for you.
When your team understands you and your business, they can share resources, references, and opportunities that are perfect for you because they know exactly what you need. They might have other clients who could use your services or who need a guest for a podcast you’d be perfect for!
I recently signed a client up for a webinar I knew that she’d love because I know her and I’m looking out for her. She loved the webinar and thanked me for sharing it. My team sends me articles and resources all the time, and I love it! I never got this perk when I worked with shorter-term contractors. It was like they were just checking things off of their list.
They’re invested in you and your business.
The more they know you and your business, the more great ideas and solutions they’ll come up with. Over time, you build relationships and friendships with them, and they want you to succeed because you’re a success story for them as well!
Specialists are great at what they do.
Sometimes you just need someone to perform some simple admin tasks (and that’s great), but hiring people who really excel in their field is a better bang for your buck. An expert can do one specific task faster and better than someone who does a lot of different things at an average level, especially when they know your business inside and out.
This potentially puts more money in your pocket because your team is highly efficient and effective, which allows you to produce better products and bring in more leads in less time!
A great team requires less managing.
The first couple of months of working with a new hire always has some bumps, but the longer you work with someone, the smoother your work relationship becomes.
Communication grows more intuitive, processes become seamless, and you find yourself having to give less and less direction. It’s a relationship that becomes more valuable and requires less maintenance over time.
Building a great team is a win-win-win situation
You win, your team members win, and your audience wins because when you have a great team, you can serve your audience so much better. A consistent team gets more and more valuable over time, and they become worth way more than the hours you pay them for.
I’ve worked with some of my team members for years. I recently found this list of qualities I wanted in my team members long before I even started putting a team together. I was simply making a list of what my ideal team members looked like. And you know what? This is exactly what I got…and then some! I don’t even remember writing it, but I remember that time in my life. I am so grateful to have manifested a team with those exact qualities and more!
Make hiring decisions with a long-term mindset and resist hiring as cheaply as possible. The difference is a few bucks in the bank now vs. the amazing, kick-butt team that will save you more than just money.
